Moss Foundation Donates $150K to HANDY
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Moss Foundation, Inc. presented a $150K donation to HANDY, Inc. to help support their mission to achieve positive, lasting change for youth by providing life skills, education, and a supportive community.
The money will go towards HANDY’S LIFE Program, which combines case management, group activities and education services in a supportive family environment to youth in need.
“The Moss Foundation is committed to help build better lives for young people in our community,” said Chad Moss, president of the Moss Foundation and previous vice chairman of HANDY. “The Moss Foundation is about giving back to the community and we’re steadfast in our support of this wonderful program and of improving the lives of youths and their families.”
For school year 2019-2020, the Life program proudly served 410 youths, ages 10-25, that were or are part of the dependency system, in relative care, or homeless. Handy provided emergency food, fully virtual after school homework and tutorial assistance, mental health case management, and rental assistance to households that lost 70% of their income due to COVID. “It’s our intent to continue to stand on the frontlines of HOPE, to elevate our youth and their families, beyond what today brings, towards what tomorrow should be,” said Kirk Brown, chief executive officer of Handy. “The HANDY Family thanks the Moss family and Moss Foundation for its continuous support and guidance. We are proud to have you as a part of our Community of HOPE.”
Moss presented the check on August 14 at HANDY’s new building in Fort Lauderdale.
