Fortune Best Medium Work Places 2018

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Moss Construction was named as one of Fortune’s 100 Best Medium Workplaces of 2018 by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work®. Moss earned this credential based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in anonymous surveys.

“When it comes to revenue growth and innovation, the 2018 Best Small & Medium Workplaces continue to outperform their peers making these companies more competitive and helping them secure their position in the market place,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work in announcing the release of the global people analytics and consulting firm’s annual ranking of the 2018 The Best Small & Medium Workplaces, in partnership with FORTUNE. “What these companies do differently than their peers, is that they offer a great workplace for all employees, regardless of role or personal traits.”

The 2018 survey found that employees at the winning companies scored their workplaces 17 to 19 percent higher than at non-winning organizations. Looking across all companies that surveyed with Great Place to Work® in the last 12 months, the top quartile for Leadership Effectiveness reported median annual revenue growth of 19.5 percent—more than 3 times faster than their peers in the bottom quartile.

At Moss, this year’s survey found that 98 percent of the Moss employees surveyed said that they are proud to tell others of their work and of what they accomplish at the construction management firm.

“We are truly honored, that once again Moss has been recognized as being one Fortune’s 100 Best Medium Workplaces in the country,” said Scott Moss, president of Moss. “From the start, family has been at the core of who we are as a business. Our employees are part of our family and are central to our success, so it’s only natural that we help them grow with Moss.”

Moss offers a comprehensive benefits package, including profit sharing, bonuses and four weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave. It offers paid internships, and there is an opportunity for employees to earn between $1,500 and $10,000 for the hiring of their employee referral.

In addition to strong pride in the workplace, the survey also found that fun is one of the top drivers for retention at small and medium businesses. Workers are 10 times more likely to say that they “want to work here for a long time,” when they experience a fun work environment.

Moss has taken that to heart over the years and offers its employees many opportunities to celebrate and have fun, including tickets to sporting events and concerts. The company also supports voluntary, employee-led Employee Resource Groups such as Moss Women in Construction. The group provides a unique opportunity for professional development, community involvement, advancement, recruitment and retention of women in non-traditional roles, including project managers and superintendents, as well as scheduling, safety and preconstruction personnel.
