Moss Wins Three Excellence in Construction Awards from ABC Gulf Coast Chapter

May 12, 2025 / Press Release, Mid-Florida

TAMPA, Fla. –  Moss, a top-ranked national construction firm, has been honored with three prestigious Excellence in Construction Awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Gulf Coast Chapter. The wins further solidify its reputation for quality, innovation, and leadership in the industry.

At ABC’s annual gala, Moss received Project of the Year, the chapter’s highest distinction, for its work on the transformative St. Regis Resort and Residences on Longboat Key. The firm also earned two Eagle Awards for the JW Marriott Beach Resort & Spa and the Amalie Arena Ice Plant Replacement.

“These awards reflect Moss’ drive to deliver not just exceptional buildings, but forward-thinking solutions,” said Toby Manulak, Senior Vice President of Moss’ Mid-Florida division, based in Tampa. “Our teams thrive on taking challenges head-on—through proactive planning, smart innovation, and a relentless focus on quality. That’s how we continue to exceed expectations and build projects that stand the test of time.”

The $376 million St. Regis Resort and Residences showcased Moss’ ability to manage coastal regulatory hurdles, complex logistics, and budget constraints—while maintaining luxury standards. The team leveraged Building Information Modeling (BIM), dual subcontractors for key trades, and a strong commitment to local contractor engagement to complete the 28-month build, elevating Longboat Key’s hospitality experience.

The JW Marriott Beach Resort & Spa in Clearwater Beach, built during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, presented another unique set of challenges. Moss deployed just-in-time procurement and adaptive engineering to overcome supply chain issues and space limitations, delivering a 16-story resort that generated hundreds of local jobs.

For Amalie Arena, Moss modernized the facility’s aging ice plant system while working around 33 scheduled events. Through night and weekend shifts, the team completed the upgrade safely and efficiently—supporting uninterrupted operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning and arena events.

“At Moss, we don’t just build buildings—we build communities,” said Tyler Harper, Project Executive at Moss. “Our culture of excellence drives us to create places that strengthen economies, uplift people, and leave a legacy for the cities we serve.”

“Winning three awards in one year is a true testament to Moss’ commitment to hiring quality ABC trade partners and leading with innovation,” said Steve Cona III, President and CEO of ABC Gulf Coast Chapter. “Moss consistently raises the bar for what’s possible in construction by fostering collaboration, solving complex challenges, and creating lasting impacts with the projects they construct and in the communities they serve.”

Moss’ recognition at this year’s gala underscores the company’s leadership in problem-solving, local workforce development, and transformative project delivery.

Building on this momentum, the Mid-Florida division is spearheading several high-impact projects, including One Tampa, a premier mixed-use tower in downtown Tampa; a multi-family community and trophy office tower in the Gasworx district; and the next phase of The Ritz-Carlton Residences on Sarasota Bay. Across all projects, Moss continues to set new benchmarks for sustainability, strategy, and excellence.
