Moss Celebrates Topping Out of the Urby in the Design District
DALLAS, TX. – Today, Moss Construction, in conjunction with developer URBY, celebrated the topping out of Dallas’ newest high-rise luxury apartments, the Urby, located in the Design District at 930 Hi Line Drive, near Turtle Creek Boulevard.
More than 400 people attended the celebratory BBQ, complete with music and raffle prizes for the construction workers. As is customary in the building industry to indicate that a structure is complete a tree was hoisted to the top of the 28-story building.
“The Urby is a wonderful addition to the Design District with its sleek and modern design,” said Moss Vice President and Project Executive Josh Carson. “Considering the challenges our team has faced, we are thrilled to have reached this milestone on time. The project broke ground in February 2021, but only a few weeks later, the region experienced a historic winter storm with freezing temperatures that disrupted our ability to work for a short time. But we got the job done, and we’re pleased to be celebrating today.”
Carson further explains that the Moss team was pouring a floor every four days and that the use of prefabricated exterior panels, fully built and finished 30 miles away, expedited the 320,205 SF building’s construction.
The $98 million luxury high rise apartment building, designed by Amsterdam-based architect Concrete and local Dallas architect 5G Studio Collaborative, will include 383 units and high-end amenities including a 5,000-square-foot fitness center, a ground floor café, an oasis-style pool, outdoor forest garden, dog run, and a 9-story parking garage
This is the first of three high-rise towers URBY is planning for the site, for a total of over 1,000 units in the Design District. Moss expects to complete the first units of Urby in late 2022 and complete the first Urby tower in the first quarter of 2023 and has started the pre-construction phase of the second tower.
