HR Generalist
POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss’ HR Generalist (Craft Workforce & Recruiting-Focused) will play a critical role in supporting the execution of Moss’ craft workforce strategy across Solar and BESS projects nationwide. This role combines core HR responsibilities with a strong emphasis on recruiting, workforce planning, and pipeline development to ensure projects are staffed on time, with the right talent, in the right locations.
This position directly impacts project success by partnering with field leadership to forecast labor demand, build sustainable pipelines of craft talent, and reduce reliance on reactive hiring. The role will serve as a key champion of Moss values, helping to create a consistent, inclusive, and engaged workforce across multiple project sites.
As part of the HR Solar team, this role will manage employee relations, HR processes, and field support, while also driving recruiting strategies aligned to project schedules, geographic labor markets, and workforce availability. This position requires regular in-office presence and travel to project sites to stay closely connected to field operations and labor needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and provide assistance to Solar craft employees and supervisors on a wide range of HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, training, benefits, payroll, HRIS systems, and leaves, ensuring timely resolution of issues
Lead full-cycle recruiting for craft roles (laborers, electricians, operators, foremen), aligned to project timelines, ramp schedules, and workforce demand forecasts
Partner with construction leadership, project managers, and superintendents to proactively plan workforce needs by project phase, location, and schedule
Build and maintain strong craft talent pipelines through referrals, local hiring initiatives, workforce agencies, trade schools, and community partnerships in key markets
Drive workforce pipeline acceleration strategies, including rehire programs, traveling workforce deployment, and redeployment of proven craft talent across projects
Support execution of local hiring strategies to strengthen community engagement while balancing the need for a stable traveling craft workforce
Track and manage recruiting metrics tied to project success, including time to fill, start date attainment, pipeline health, and retention of new hires
Serve as the primary HR and recruiting point of contact for craft employees and field leadership, ensuring alignment between workforce needs and HR support
Handle employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution in fast-paced field environments, partnering with leadership to maintain productivity and morale
Provide guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, and workforce decisions that impact project continuity
Collaborate with HRBPs, Legal, and leadership on workforce-related risks, compliance, and complex employee matters
Support onboarding and mobilization of craft employees to project sites, ensuring a smooth transition from hire to jobsite readiness
Assist with offboarding, reductions in force, and project closeout workforce transitions in a respectful and compliant manner
Promote an inclusive and team-oriented culture aligned with Moss values across diverse craft populations
Support change management initiatives tied to workforce scaling, project ramp up/down, and organizational priorities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning, and Operations to align hiring strategies with business needs
Support leadership on ad hoc workforce strategy initiatives and priority business projects
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in HR Generalist, Craft Recruiting, or blended HR/TA roles supporting large populations of hourly craft employees in construction, solar, or similar industries
Proven success in high-volume, project-based recruiting environments with tight timelines and changing workforce demands
Strong understanding of craft workforce dynamics, including traveling crews, per diem structures, and local labor market conditions
Experience partnering with field leadership to forecast labor needs and execute workforce plans tied to project schedules
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain craft talent pipelines across multiple geographies
Strong employee relations experience in field or project-based environments
Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices in multi-state operations
Experience with HRIS systems; Workday preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, field-driven environment
Effective communicator with the ability to influence both field and corporate stakeholders
High level of discretion and ability to manage sensitive workforce matters
PHR or similar certification is a plus, but not required
Remote role with frequent travel to project sites and periodic visits to the Fort Lauderdale, FL office.
