Life Fellowship Church, hired Moss to renovate and expand their McKinney, TX campus to include a 1,200-seat worship center, a weekday preschool with space for 300+ children, additional adult classrooms, and an administrative suite on a very compact site. This plan also included a central outdoor area which serves as a gathering place for the community.
The first phase of the project included the addition of a 24,464-SF building, doubling the size of the campus and providing classrooms to house Lionheart Children’s Academy for use as a licensed weekday preschool. The site was further enhanced with outdoor amenities that included a covered terrace with seating areas, an outdoor baptistery and fire pit, and a pavilion with a basketball court and kitchen.
Regrading of the site created a surplus of soil that was shaped into an outdoor amphitheater for worship, movies, and live performances.
The fast-paced nature of the project’s schedule resulted in the need for constant communication and education between Moss and church leadership. The Moss team worked hand-in-hand with key church leaders throughout the construction process to communicate lead times, realistic schedule expectations, and ensure construction activities had little to no interference with day-to-day church operations.
With the speed at which scope was being added, decisions became labored and work days grew long. The Moss on-site construction team took time to meet with church members for each and every decision to educate them on the process and maintained the project’s schedule.
