Michael Benitez
Vice President, Energy Engineering
As Vice President of Energy Engineering, Michael Benitez, P.E. provides strategic leadership for Moss’ engineering function across the company’s growing energy portfolio, including solar, storage, and emerging opportunities such as repowering. He oversees the integration of Engineering Management and Engineering Services, aligning outsourced Engineer of Record (EOR) design execution with in-house technical services that support projects from RFP and due diligence through construction support and closeout.
Michael leads multidisciplinary capabilities spanning civil, electrical, structural/mechanical, SCADA, layout development, quality controls/standards, and performance modeling. He is accountable for driving engineering consistency, strengthening cross-functional coordination with Preconstruction and Operations, and advancing formalization initiatives that improve transparency and constructability– such as the structured design review cadence and the Joint Design Review process.
Since joining Moss, Michael has helped elevate internal engineering capabilities, scale engineering management capacity, and expand and mature Moss’ EOR partner network to meet rapid growth and increasing project complexity. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and Colorado and a Senior Member of the IEEE with published research. Michael holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
